Warning: Rain and Wind!!

This is the weather forecast for Southern CA this week. Rain, monsoons, floods, wind, etc. Good thing it is swim week. I swam over 8,000 meters today. The second trip to the pool was not nearly as exciting as the first. Swimming in the rain is always fun for me and thankfully the weather cooperated with my love of rain-swimming.

After swimming there was a coffee field trip with LB. Just to keep me focused on my sub-28 Oceanside-coffee-winning-goal. Maggs and I are also planning a 50-fly race in May in case coffee isn't motivation enough. More on this to come. . .

I was hoping this picture would capture the true essence of our California monsoon. But unfortunately it just looks like the parking lot is barely damp. Which I suppose is a "winter storm warning" in Southern California anyway.

I have to say I prefer a lot of snow to a lot of rain. Yes, it's cold but you don't get wet and cold.

Keep swimming. - Dory

I heard we had a 70 mph gust in LJ today. Glad I wasn't riding!

It seemed stormier than your picture shows, you're right! The wind was so cool though, I love it!

Please make sure someone is there to video the fly debacle.

I want to take a nap after 2,000 meters! Good job on actually going to the pool 2x. ;)

Sounds better than -9 deg C and wind!

Thankfully the rain FINALLY stopped here - but I am feeling your pain! A nice rain storm is ok - but rain that leaves bruises on your body is another! Stay afloat!

I rather take the rain than snow! Great job with the swimming.

Just promise me you'll stay out of the pool when the lightening strikes are going on - we're having a doozy of a T-storm this morning!

Love Peets!

Swimming in the rain is so nice!!! We're getting hammered up here, but I expect mostly trainer rides right now anyway so it's OK :)

Winter storm warning -- great post! There is always and excuse not to get out and work and most people would take the day off when it is raining instead of getting into the pool. Good work...

I love rain...yeah, not very conducive to bike training, but there's something about a good soaking. Unlike T-odd, I would prefer rain to snow any day.

You are a swimming beast! No one will be able to catch you in the water this season!

I'll take the rain over snow anyday -- unless the snow comes down and only sticks to the grass. Then it's pretty.

The coffee looks great against the grey day. 8000 meters in the pool just sounds crazy.

This is going to be a fun year to "watch" you race!

ooh I heard you guys are getting hit with wicked awful weather. Stupid global warming, though I am enjoying the mild temperatures of our Canadian winter!

I thought of you when I was swimming outside in Australia and it started to rain. A bunch of people dashed out of the pool and ran for cover, but it felt so good to be in the pool in the rain! Quite peaceful really!!
