Long, Hot Ride

Today was the first ride where I remembered what hot summer inland rides actually feel like. The kind where I sweat buckets and go through bottle after bottle of fluids. Somehow I end up at home, with several bugs stuck on my face, feeling absolutely shelled.

I started out on the train...

And somehow ended up here. (Which is not off the front... )

It was a great day for riding, despite the heat.

Ending the day here was even better.

Oh you shouldn't have told us you weren't off the front in that 2nd picture - we never would have known! :) Great riding - it does look HOT!

Beautiful scenery at least - great job!

That is a great way to end a long ride. Had I had that view yesterday I would not have complained of the 100*+ temps here in DAL where I end smelling the smell only bulls and cows can create.

Great job on the ride.

Loved the part where you say ended up here...but it was not off the front. Weather was perfect this weekend, finally our summer, but what the hell happened to June? That month went by quickly!

We were hanging at a coffee house in Los Olivos (temps 98 degrees) and two cyclists stopped by at noon looking mighty hot. I would melt. You rock.

We ground out about 74 miles Saturday with some climbing. 6 bottles of fluid later I was happy to be home. Only To drink another 25 o.z. of recovery before I could get in the shower. I was turned pretty much inside out, having lead that ride from mile 35 on. But I'll never complain about sunshine.
