Goals

I recently talked with someone training for a 5k. Right now, 1000m is the farthest they can run. But this person is determined to reach that 5k running mark and run an entire 5k race. And I have no doubt it will be accomplished. I am inspired by this. We all have hurdles to cross and often stumble along the way, but there is nothing more rewarding than setting a goal and accomplishing it.

So I'm curious - what are your goals this season?

My goal this year is IM Lake Placid! :) First IM.

I have lots of little goals this year, some technique based (like flip turning) and some about taking all that fast-short stuff I did last year and translating it into better long performances. But most important I'd love a new IM PR :-)

I have some time goals, but mostly I want to take some risks in races; I keep getting better times as a runner, but always feel I started too slow, and could have gone faster. I need to stop worrying that I will crash and burn and just go for it! I am the nerd who always overprepared in school:)

I have quite a few, some that are not easy to say outload in a public domain ;)

Oddly, some where not set high enough hit one of my running ones already.

But generally my main goal it to enjoy training, I see to many people dread it. OTherwise plan is to crush all my previous PRs

Since I'm just starting to feel like my calf is getting back to normal, my goals this season (spring?) are the following:
*do races that are new to me and sound like fun challenges (I'm currently registered for the 7mi Bridge Run in the Fla Keys, and the Broad Street 10 miler race in Philadelphia, PA)
*run solidly, but pay attention to my body (leg, specifically). I want to feel good about the races and my performance, but not at the risk of injuring my calf again.

I'm itching to get some speed back, but for now, those are my main goals.

I wanted to qualify for Boston. But after the new registering, I'm just saying that I want to run under a 3:45:00. Which is funny this week, because everything that CAN get in the way, HAS got in the way! And yet, I keep going because I simply remind myself, if training for a marathon (or whatever distance) was easy, then everyone would be doing it! Flexibility is the name of the game for me.

Sub 2:00 half marathon and sub 24:00 5K. And also not getting injured. That would be a nice goal to reach :)

you. had.me.at.goals. ;-)
no but for me this year...I'm more about maintaining and focusing on the other roles in my life. Last year my Athlete goals were top priority, and I need to take a mental breather from that this year. and i'm lovin' it so far...;)

2012 will be my 'race' year;-)

A 10 min (or more) PR in the marathon. After an 8 year hiatus from the distance, I'm ready to give it another shot! Something in the neighborhood of 3:03 or 3:04 would be acceptable. Btw, YOU are totally inspirational! :)

Fall Marathon P.R. would be #1 and sub: 22:00 5K. 5K has been in my little mind for a couple years. I have like 4-5 22:05'ishes. :)

To feel confident and strong for the swim portion of Escape from Alcatraz. (I'm less worried about the bike and swim). My awesome new Prophet Zoot wetsuit is the first step - can't wait to try it out!!

My goal was to go uninjured this year but I fell and busted my butt. So I guess my goal should be go uninjured the rest of the year!

Top 2- finish my first 70.3 and Top 3 in the NC Triathlon series in my age group.

Bonus- since my first HIM is a USAT qualifier, I would like to qualify for HALFMAX in my AG.

I'm late to this party but here are my goals:
sub 11 hours in (my first IM) IM Texas
sub 4:30 in a half
Win a race this year. Any race... even if I have to pull a bunch of 3rd graders out of social studies!

Goal is to PR every half marathon I race this year. Complete my first full marathon in sub 3:30 and follow that up with a sub 3:25 in Chicago.
