The Crit

These are my rock-star friends Jenny and Crystal. They race bikes. I want to do this some day. The whole team strategy of bike racing is appealing to me. The crashing - not so much. Thankfully there was no crashing at their last race.

No joke - this is the street the crit was on.

My friend Becky and I after the race. I think we were checking out the winner, but I really have no idea. This picture cracks me up though!

Oh that's hilarious! Becky looks horrified! The winner must've been scary!

Hehee and you look rather grossed out! Great pics! I've always wanted to race bikes too...maybe someday! :)

Yeah, Becky terrified. You - eh, not so much. Watched a crit in Madison, WI around the capital square - crashes is right. I prefer to keep it rubber side down, thank you very much.

I don't know what's more funny - the fact that the race was on Top Gun St or the fact that there even is such a street name!! :) Hope you had a great time!

Love that photo...I have a similar one of me and my horse trainer friend watching an Olympian riding a horse that was rearing...maybe one of your finishers was rearing?

OMG crits are like...lets see...the thrill of escaping death. Ok that may not sound fun, but the adrenaline is amazing but as you said...Nascar on Bikes. The risk is high but when you escape it, wow there is nothing like it, the teamwork and the breaks ..the primes...
Ok so...somebody took me out last summer and i had a gooseegg hematoma on my a$$ for 6 weeks. I was lucky no broken clavicle, and i am not doing them this summer. WE oldies heal slowly:)

STill the most fun to watch of any bike event!

HA! That IS a weird pic of you two...

Bike racing is one thing that doesn't interest me that much. I'm not that good on the bike, and all those other fast people so close to me would freak me out!!

Top Gun Street can only be in CA. Loving the photos.

I was so inspired by a local crit race I saw last year, I just last weekend passed by Cat. 3 official test so I can officiate at the local races.

That's cool! You should try it sometime. I'm sure you would like it. I raced with a team for 2 seasons and it was super fun, but can get scary in crits. Well, at least for me. Some of those girls die for crits! Cute pic, HA ;-)

I'm with you on avoiding crits because of crashes. At least the guys have different categories based on experience. But the race tactics are fun.

Cool pictures.

The last one looks like whatever you 2 were looking at was not pleasing to the eye. An old fat guy wasnt scatching himself was he??

Were you guys watching this on a jumbo-tron?

Caption for last photo:

Becky: Man she's pretty fast.

Charisa: I could take her...on the run.

People riding in shorts and short sleeves, man I'm jealous of you guys on the left coast..looks like it was a good event.

Love that final pic...

Crits...uh...scary. But watching them on the sideline and they whoosh by is pretty awesome. Was that the Red Trolly last weekend...no?

riding bike races is way to scary for me. I get nervous just watching them!

Love the last photo.
