Climbing from Spring to Winter

Spring blooms early in California. As rain threatens to literally rain on my training parade this weekend, I shuffled things around and climbed Palomar yesterday. Mike conveniently came down with a "cough" so he could join me.

These are the cattle grates all over the mountain that feel great to ride your bike over.

The sun was out most of the way up.

For those of you who think I smile all the time - this is what I look like when I'm fairly uncomfortable and trying to hold my watts above 200 for extended periods of time.

The top felt like we had left spring for winter again.

All that snow up top is awesome! Don't you love California winters? Green and full of blooming trees! :)

I think trying to take a picture of yourself while climbing is about 25 watts.

I'm sorry to have to rain all over this but as a special agent of the fashion police I must point out that one simply must keep the glasses outside the helmet straps.
That faux pas probably cost you another 20 watts right there.
Now as soon as I can I'm putting on my old fleece sweat pants a cotton shirt and going for a ride on my hybrid on which I'll never turn over 40 watts.

A dim bulb as it were.

Charisa, just did a 9 mile run today in nothing but shorts and then swam 1.2 miles with Bree in the pier with nothing but a speedo. Thinking of you. ;o)

Gosh, I did think you smiled all the time. Darn. How did you take that picture anyway?

You're still partly smiling. FAIL.

I am with D on this. There is not much pain on that face ;)

You should have taken Cedric to help taking turns "pulling".

Tell him he is a slacker...

I think your face looks HORRIFIC! I don't ever want to see a picture of you like that again. Only smiley, happy pictures please - even if it fake smiley and happy. I get enough horrific views when I look in the mirror.

I dont understand those grates. They say that cattle dont walk across them but I never see Cattle near the road, so...Ok maybe they work after all:)
