Swim Week

This week is Christmas. And swim week. I will be staring at the black line on the bottom and the lane line a lot this week.

In an effort to turn me into a fish, coach ordered up a lot of swimming. I did not swim in high school. I never swam 2-a-days. Sure, I went to the pool a lot in the summer - but to jump off the diving board and play Marco-Polo. I basically started swimming a few years ago.

This week each day I will be in the pool at 6am and again at noon for masters. Thank goodness the pool is closed on Christmas so I can reattach my arms!

Wow. I bet you sleep like nothing else once you get into the middle of this week. Two-a-day swim workouts? I am impressed!

I had a water phobia up to 2 years ago when I tough myself the breast stroke. Three months ago I started teaching myself the free style. I did read that short frequent swims are better than long short swims in terms of getting the technique, but man, I can only imagine getting in the pool 2 times a day. Way to go!

I have a feeling that week will eventually be on my schedule... but for now, I will live vicariously through you! Have fun and let us know how it goes / total distance (I'm curious)!

You're the third or fourth blog that has mentioned becoming a fish this week, there must be a special on fish. As a former swimmer, I can tell you that yardage always pays off Charisa. At some point, you're gonna notice how powerful you feel in the water, but you might feel fatigue and soreness at first. ;o)

OMG your arms! But think of how much STRONGER you are going to be after "swim week."

Nice!! Good luck. You are going to be so strong (if not a little tired and sore at first :)

I just realized my comment sounded like I was saying you needed a lot of swim training or something. Sorry :( I have 2 swims on my schedule tomorrow. Then I'm resting my arms so i can lift a fork on Christmas day.

Maybe a swimmer's iPod will make life more palatable? Of course if you already have one, maybe you could start humming to the music?

Swim week? Better you than me. If it were me it wouldn't be swim week. It would be swim weak.

Enjoy Charisa. Swim a few 100's for me too! I can't wait to ride with you when I get back. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hugs.

Have fun! I haven't done a swim focus since way back when I used to only swim like 15 years ago. You will get used to the chlorine smell which is hard to get out!
