The Suicidal Squirrel

I was flying down the bike path when out from the bushes there sprung a wee squirrel. I let out a yelp as my tires went "thump, bump" and turned around to see if perhaps I had just stunned the poor thing.

Stunned he was not, he appeared to be dead!
Oh my, oh dear, and ewwwww!

Here are a few other pictures from my foggy bike ride . . .

oh my...it's funny though, my husband and I always refer to them as "suicidal" as well! (it was just wierd to hear someone else say it)

Dead animals make me cry. Stupid google reader doesn't inform me when there are dead animal posts.

Poor guy! The same thing happened to me once, but it was a bunny rabbit. I've never heard a rabbit squeal so loudly! Mine apparently survived though, he ran off after the shock wore off. Scary experience though, imagine what could happen getting one of those tangled up in your wheel. Ew.

Those dang squirrels! I think they all have death wishes! Glad you didn't wreak what with all that fog and random animal crossings!

Admit it. He almost got away, but you managed to swerve over and nail him. Am I right?

I think it was a kamakazie attempt... I heard the horror stories of cyclist who have gone down and messed themselves up from Squirrels who tried to "take them out with them."

That is a lot of gray in one day - Gray Squirrel (dead), Gray Shoes, Gray Water, Gray Fog. Gray gray gray. Yesterday's post was kind of gray, too. OK, go find some color - and try not to kill anything this time.

Poor guy. He looks really dead. But glad you are okay.

I'm glad it didn't take you down in the process. We see lots of squirrels hanging around the track and that freaks me out even more without brakes...no casualties since i have been there, but I have heard of a few.

Oh, no that's terrible! I am glad he did not take you down as well.

And I know this is not very PC, but I could not help laughing when I saw that pic. He looks like he is playing dead. Poor thing!

Oh poor little thing. We have so many squirels around our place in West Point - luckily the speed limite is 15 mph.

Bike trails and Kamikaze squirrels seem to be the norm no matter where you are. Thankfully you didn't crash! Mother Nature will soon replace the furry little tree rodent, no worries!

How'd it taste? Bake it or fry it?

Oh goodness!! LOL - poor little squirrel! I once ran over a suicidal little dog and let out a shriek as it ran away relatively unscathed. Your ride just looks absolutely breathtakingly beautiful :-) Oh the FOG!
On another note I heard you were doing IM Canada? I am signed up for that race too!!!

Brutal! I ran over a snake the other day. Sad day for snake. I'm impressed you didn't crash - I would have for sure!

Thank GOD you didn't swerve to avoid the little tree rat! Not that I have anything against squirrels... I just like you sans road-rash MUCH better!
