The Work

I've been training again for about 3 weeks now. Yesterday was the first day I didn't feel slow and out of shape. (I also did not feel fast or spectacular). There is no magic secret to getting fit and racing fast. Consistency in training and putting in the hard work is how it's done. Resting and recovery is also a huge key to success, so there are times in training, especially after a break, when you just aren't going to feel super speedy or fit for a while.

I enjoy watching the transformation over weeks and months from feeling slow and sluggish, to feeling swift and light footed. It never happens overnight, but every once in a while I get a glimpse of what I know is possible in a workout. And that always keeps me coming back for more. Keep in mind that in training there will often be more workouts that don't feel super amazing, than those that do. Train hard. Recover. Repeat. And come race day - go out there and give it all you've got and enjoy the hard work you put in.
