Superfrog Triathlon

My next half ironman distance race is in my back yard, and it is a race I have never done before. SUPERFROG is the longest running half ironman (it started in 1979). It was created to prepare SEALs for what was then the brand new Hawaii Ironman and to encourage the new sport of triathlon in the Navy Underwater Demolition Teams and SEAL teams where physical training was multi-faceted and competitive spirit was high.

I chose this race for several reasons.
  1. I can drive to the race - no flying, bike boxing, etc.
  2. The entire race takes place right next to the ocean!
  3. The bike is flat - a chance to try to PR the bike split.
  4. The run is hard and sounds fun - there is a mix of sand throughout the run.
  5. The race benefits the Naval Special Warfare Family Foundation - it's nice to race for something more than myself.
If you live in San Diego area and are looking for a fun race with a good cause, come down and race the 35th Annual SUPERFROG with me on September 29!
