Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon Race Report

The Camp Pendleton Marines put on good races. This particular one was a sprint, so as the race is short - I will try to keep the report short as well...

The swim is 500m in the ocean. There was a current pulling north, so I lined up far-left. I swam straight and ended up at the first buoy in the front of my group.

I will most likely NEVER in my life come out of the water first in a large pro race, so it was fun to be in the front of my wave in the swim, even if it was just a smaller race.

Out onto the bike I had 30k to test out my new Profile disc and ride at painful-level. My goal was to ride under 50 minutes. I hit the turn around at 25 and there must have been a tail-wind on the way back...
...because somehow I rode 48. Also, I swear I used my aero bars during the ride.

5k of run-as-fast-as-possible.

How to not run with proper form (ie heal strike).

Nice thing about sprints is how quick they are over.

I ended up 2nd (and on a hover craft!) Big congrats to Ian on the win.

Huge thanks to Mike for always keeping my bike in amazing working order. If you live in the San Diego area and need a good bike mechanic email me for his contact info.

THANK YOU to my sponsors for all the support. Next up is Rev3 Wisconsin Dells half next weekend!
